Self Portrait on the roof of my studio at Tyson

A real quality Hillbilly repair job, Jim Sterritt would be proud of.

Self Portrait at Cabella's

Lots of dead stuff inside too, Rosemary was appalled.

Went to Cabella's to look at some shirts on sale, and were greeted with lots of scary, dead animals in the parking lot.

Today I had a great freelance shoot photographing the sculpture students and visiting artist Ann Hamilton on campus.

Self Portrait with computer

I solved two computer issues today, first was a problem that was getting progressively worse by the month. My three year old Mac Pro would make noise like a fan or drive noise that would rise and fall and it was quite loud. I pulled off the side cover and saw that there was a lot of dust all over the video card and in particular the vents to the blower. Against all the warnings that I have read about over the years about blowing out the dust from the inside of your computer, I did and the noise went away. It must have been over heating the video card.

The second issue was installing a new optical drive. Mine uses a IDE type and I found a great one at Micro Center for $34. Upon installation, the door would not pass thru the slot in the Mac Pro, it turned out that the plate on the door of the DVD drive comes off allowing it to pass thru. Another victory over the machine. Now my Mac Pro has had its memory upgraded to 9 gigs, a new optical drive and a repaired video card fan. Next on the list, anyone know where I can get LIGHT SCRIBE software for a Mac?

Self Portrait at my studio at Tyson

I made a few trips out to Tyson this week, to photograph my "book farm" and today was to deal with a leak in the roof that was a threat to my print archive, I'm going to need to make a trip to the roof to deal with this soon.

Self Portrait at my "Book Farm" Tyson Studio

Me standing among the "winter" crop of books I planted last summer, this duration project is intended to mimic some of the results from my "Lost Library" series in New Orleans, only with a more controlled environment.

Self Portrait at the Chaos den

I had the opportunity to photograph in the Chaos den today. The parade was rained out and the parade was never re-scheduled. So odd to think the floats will al be painted over and no one will ever see the work of the artist who spent the last year decorating and constructing them. I would like to think my work in the dens will continue into a long term project.

Self Portrait on Bourbon street Fat Tuesday

Mardi Gras this year was as cold as I have seen in 19 years, and in spite of that, the body painters were still out there, not as many as last year, but still working the streets.

Self Portrait at the Shrimp Lot on the West Bank

I went to the shrimp lot in Westwego today, its like a farmer market, only for shrimp, great selection and super prices and interesting people. "Buy Louisiana Shrimp!"

Self Portrait at the Mid-City parade

Today was the only day that it was warm enough to wear just a T-Shirt. The weather has been so unseasonably cold this Mardi Gras. The Mid-City parade was great as usual with its foil covered floats. I also did some work on this parade with the Lumix is the "pinhole camera" mode.

Self Portrait, with A. R. Smith's grandmothers tomb

One of the more interesting and out of place grave sites is at St. Louis #1 cemetery. Its the grave site of Arthur Raymond Smiths grandmother. Arthur is a true character in every sense of the word, he decorates at least three grave sites for himself and other relations in New Orleans and has an unusual style of materials and concept.

Self Portrait with improved/repaired bumper

The good old boys at Su Way Auto Body in Maplewood did right by me and popped out the indented bumper on the Rogue. I also got them to open up the interior body panels so I could swap out the XM for the Sirius sat radio receiver. All the connections worked and I saved $300 the dealership wanted to do the job. Ready for the next trip south on Saturday.
